Rev. Clarence Moore, a native of Greenville, Mississippi, is the illustrious pastor of Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church of Augusta, GA.
 
Rev. Moore received his primary and secondary education from the public schools of Washington County, Mississippi. He is a 1978 graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received his B.B.A. degree in Management.

In 1972, Rev. Moore answered the call to go and teach; thus he has served in many capacities as an instructor: Washington County Congress of Christian Education, Greenville, Mississippi, and the State Congress of Christian Education of Mississippi (1972-1978); Georgia State Congress of Christian Education (1981- ); Walker Baptist Congress of Christian Education (1989); and a teacher of Sunday School and of those who were/are to become Sunday School teachers and leaders.
 
Rev. Moore, in 1977, answered an even greater call - to go into all the world and preach the Gospel that others might be saved and baptized into a family of believers of our Lord and Savior. In September 1977, he was licensed to preach at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi, and was ordained to preach in April 1983 at the Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta, GA.
 
The Augusta, GA community received a unique blessing in 1983 when Rev. Moore came to serve as assistant pastor at the Good Shepherd Missionary Church. There he served as assistant pastor until April 1986, when he became the second pastor since the church’s inception in 1940.
 
Another very important change took place in the life of Rev. Moore in 1986; for in September he married the lovely Patricia A. Sparrow, and in December 1989 they became the very proud parents of a son, Clarence Joshua Moore,11.
 
During the sixteen years that Rev. Moore has been the pastor of Good Shepherd, the church has experienced many positive changes and tremendous growth. Membership has increased by more than 2000. Many ministries and services have been established to respond to the holistic needs of the membership and the community, including Radio Broadcasting, Church Newsletter (1988); Summer Enrichment, Tape Ministry, Business Advocate Group (1991); Scholarship (1992) ; GED Program (1994); Evangelistic Task Force, and Narcotics Anonymous (1996).
 
Rev. Moore, seeing the vast need for spiritual growth and development through the teaching of God’s Word, instituted the Preaching/Teaching Combination for revival, the Discipleship Class (1986), and Saturday Morning Bible Study (1990). Between 1993 and 1996, five ministers were licensed and two were ordained that they too might add to spiritual growth and development through the teaching, preaching, and spreading of God’s word.
 
Good Shepherd, with the dynamic and visionary leadership of Rev. Moore, is active in local, state, and national activities; and he has served, and is now serving, on all these levels, including Secretary, Augusta Baptist Ministers’ Conference (1984 - 1986); Chairman, Budget Committee, General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia (1984 -); 1st Vice President of the 10th District (1987 - 1994) and President (1994 - 2004); Clergy Staff, Augusta University  Hospital Executive Board (1989 - 1991); Assistant Treasurer, State Congress of Christian Education (1989 - 2003); Treasurer, State Congress of Christian Education (2003 - 2004); Chairman, Family Committee, Local Coordination Council (1990 -); President, Augusta Baptist Ministers’ Conference (1992 - 1994); and Co-Chairman, Augustans Together (1992 -); President, General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc. (2004 -).
 
Many innovations, renovations, and purchases have been made, including 20.8 acres of land on which a very spacious, new church is now located.
 
Rev. Moore is known through out this country for his soul stirring and enlightening messages and for his dynamic and effective teaching; consequently, he is involved in many off site revivals, worship activities, and teaching/lecture activities -inciting in others the desire to walk in the Will and Way of Christ Jesus.
 
This man of God is also known in his Augusta community for his fellowshipping spirit, for his willingness to stand up and to speak up for the needs and rights of the people, and for willingly and patiently sharing his time, talents, influence, and means that God will be glorified and others will be ministered to - letting God’s light so shine through him that others might well see the way to the fulfilled life and to life eternal.
